VGTI Florida Announces New Director of Development

Port St. Lucie, Florida, November 14, 2012 – The Vaccine and Gene Therapy Institute of Florida (VGTI Florida) is pleased to announce the appointment of Keith Hinton to Development Director. 

“Fiscal vitality is key to continuing the serious medical research we conduct and for sustaining a positive economic and community impact,” said Mel Rothberg, Chief Operating Officer, VGTI Florida.  Development activities strengthen our relationship with the community and help us continue our critical research mission of fighting chronic illnesses,” he continued.  

Keith will work closely with the VGTI Florida board of directors and develop a strategic framework for fund-development initiatives including a comprehensive, strategic and sustained planned giving and endowment program.  His primary development activities will focus on strategic fund-development that supports VGTI Florida’s biomedical research programs. 

As an accomplished nonprofit executive, Keith brings extensive experience to the director of development position, with demonstrated ability in all facets of fund development.  His background includes operations management, planned giving, major gift solicitation and community partnerships.  Keith has spearheaded several corporate giving and capital campaigns.  His healthcare experience includes, University of Texas, Southwestern Medical School and the Mission Region Medical Center in Texas, as well as the St. Joseph Medical Center and Visiting Nurse Association in Florida.

His professional affiliations include the Association of Health Care Philanthropy, National Society of Fundraising Executives, Association of Fundraising Professionals, Partnership for Philanthropic Planning and the Indian River County Planned Giving Council and others.

Hinton’s immediate goals are to develop and strengthen relationships between VGTI Florida and key stakeholders, including civic and government leaders in Port St. Lucie, Martin, Indian River and Palm Beach counties.
