Bioinformatician    


We are currently searching for Bioinformatician join the Bioinformatic core for analyzing and reporting of microarray, high-throughput PCR experiments, and sequencing experiments such as genomic, mRNA, microRNA.

Duties include:
  • pre-processing of microarray and mRNA-seq data gene expression, 
  • analysis of high throughput experiment data,
  • detailed biological analysis and discussion biological findings with investigators,
  • manuscript preparation

 Qualifications:
  • 3 to 5 years experience in microarray data pre processing and analysis of single channel microarrays such as Illumina or Agilent using R-script/Bioconductor and/or SAS/JMP, including the identification of gene correlates, and the creation of gene classifiers.
  • Experience of public databases at NCBI, EBI for gene and protein sequences, and microarray, microRNA. Knowledge in sequence data processing and analysis of genomic and mRNA sequencing.
  • Demonstrated work experience with scripting languages such as Perl, or Python as well as Linux/Unix, Mac OS X, and Windows operating systems. Intermediate understanding of the object oriented programming paradigm, programming experience with at least 1 language such as Java, C/C++, C#. 
  • Professional knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and methods in the application of wet-bench chemistries and protocols to high throughput DNA sequencing and microarray.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in molecular biology including publications.
  • Proven track record of working closely with biologists in the preparation of figures for presentations and manuscripts.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational and troubleshooting abilities, strong written and oral communication skills.

Preferred:
  • Formal software engineering skills and software application development experience will be an asset.
  • Relevant working experience in preprocessing and the analysis microarray analysis in the area of virology and immunity an asset
  • Advanced analysis, including identification of gene correlates and classifier building in the context of virology and immunology an asset
  • Publications in molecular and/or biochemistry background
  • Statistical analysis

Education
  • B.S in biochemistry, molecular biology, physics or computer science
  • M.S in Bioinformatics preferred
